Tips For Surpassing Online Business Competition

Finding Your Online Business Edge

Finding Your Online Business Edge
By Kris Beus

Usually it amazes me how little separates the first few spots in Google and the rest of sites who are usually much less visited. These sites are not spectacular they simply marketed their presence or became popular enough to push up to the top three and then quit. With your online business there are a few things I would like to tell you about and hopefully they will allow you to push past the competition easily. The first thing is knowing what your niche is and the keywords you are ranking well for. You should be checking this frequently making sure you notice any movement either up or down. There will be many pursuing you so expect a fight, but usually the marketing workload will drastically cut down once you reach the top.

Now to find out who is attempting to reach the top of Google for your keywords go to Google and search using this phrase inachor:"yourkeywords". This is a search that allows you to track who has built the best and most links for your particular key phrase. Remember even though content will satisfy your visitors so you should be creating it on a regular basis search engines look at incoming links much more than the content on a page. You will need to focus on this if you would like to get noticed. There are several places to build links including article directories and regular directories for lists visit a webmaster forum such as v7n.com/forums or search Google for lists.

Now even though links will get you traffic and usually give you the edge over your competition they will not raise you to superstardom if you are creating them all yourself. To really dominate your niche you will need to be creating content that is getting linked to on a regular basis. This is why it is extremely important to not only look at who else is in your niche, but also take the time to read what they are writing so you know more about your niche than the rest of your competitors. Once you are a true expert within your niche when you write content there will be a significantly increase in the amount of links you will get pointing towards your newly written articles which means you will not be required to create links, but simply create content.

Knowing everything you can about your niche will help your internet business, but another important thing to begin learning about is search engine optimization and internet marketing. Those who know more about how a site is ranked will be more likely to complete the necessary steps to rank well in the major search engines. It will take quite a bit of time to learn about these two things so don't worry about ranking well until you have a complete grasp. Simple things such as where you can market your presence without being condemned for spamming will usually be your first step.
