The Secret To Internet Riches In 2012
The Secret To Internet Riches In 2012
By Matthew Neer
The secret?
Okay, I'll tell you.
Find something that works, and keep working it over and over again.
Now thats obviously a little bit over simplified, but it is true. What I want to do is tell you how I arrived at this shockingly easy realization.
You see, when I first came online, I was just like everyone else. I just wanted to figured out a way to make some extra cash on the side to pay the bills, or maybe go out to a nice dinner once a month or something.
And yes, you can make millions of dollars online, but I wasn't going for that, at least not at first.
What I found that made me successful was building these little one or two hour websites that get ranked really high in Google and then made a bunch of money because everyone was searching for that kind of stuff.
I'll give you my 3 step process of how I do this right now.
Money Step #1 - Market Research
The first thing I always do before I try and build a website or buy a domain name is research the topic of interest.
So for example, lets say I wanted to build a little niche site around chicken coops. Don't ask me why I would want to do that, lets just assume I love building stuff.
What I do is pop open the Google Keyword Tool and type in my keyword phrase: "Chicken Coops".
Then Google kicks me back a whole bunch of keywords that you can use. It will tell you the monthly search volume. Use this info to get a good idea of how much traffic you can pull in to your site if you were ranked number 1 in Google.
Money Step #2 - Is It Profitable
Now, before you decide to buy a winning domain name with lots of search volume, you'll need to figure out if there are products that you can sell in that niche.
Well it just so happens that the Chicken Coops niche is a very profitable one and you can make a lot of money there if you have a website ranked high.
But if you didn't know if it was profitable, a great way to check it to run over to Clickbank.com and search your keyword in the marketplace. And if there are some products built around your keyword, that is a great indicator that you will be able to make some good money in that niche.
Money Step #3 - Build & Juice
Once you have identified that you can likely make money in this niche, its time to build your website.
To do this, we use the WordPress blog model because Google and the other search engines always rank these sites very high. And its free! YAY!
What you'll want to do is focus really hard on your OnPage SEO, because this will result in you getting high rankings without much more work.
However, if you don't see a good ranking right away, they next think you'll need to do is run some high quality backlinks to your website.
To do this, you can either hire people, use a service that does it for you, or manually build them from other sites like Squidoo, HubPages, and even Ezine Articles.
Remember, the more high quality links you have from reputable sites, the better your stuff is going to rank, and the faster. Once you get your site built, the name of the game is link getting. Focus on that, and you will win.
