There is a huge income potential for businesses that can establish themselves firmly within the minds of their audience online. That is why it is so vital that internet marketers who wish to survive for the long term take the time to effectively establish their brand.
Establishing a brand has to happen on two levels...
1. Academic
2. Emotional
At the academic level your internet business should meet a particular need within your target market. What are the pressing problems that individuals within your niche are experiencing? What factual evidence do you have to supply your prospects with in order for them to reason that what your brand has to offer would be the logical solution to their problem?
Gathering statistics, testimonials and case studies may take a little work to come up with, but taking the time to gather such information will definitely show that your business is a professional operation that is in touch with the needs of it's target market.
Although facts, figures and photos are important they are not the only ingredient that will establish your brand firmly within your prospects minds.
The E + L = C Equation
E + L = C... emotion plus logic = connection.
It's important to remember that most people buy based on emotion and back it up with logic.
So this means that there has to be some type of emotional connection between your prospects and your brand.
To figure out what that connection is you would have to find out a couple of things.
The first thing you would have to find out is what your prospects emotional hot buttons are.
The second thing you would need to figure out is, in what way does your brand cater to that emotional need?
For instance if you are trying to make a connection with young teenage males who want to build muscle, the first question you have to ask yourself is... why?
Why would a young teenager say between the ages of 17-20 be so interested in getting big? Is he trying to impress the girls? Does he want to play sports? Does he just want to look better in his clothes? Is he trying to keep the bullies at bay?
What is it that getting bigger muscles will make him feel?
Accepted?
Confident?
Useful?
By narrowing down what your prospects emotional hot buttons are, you will be in a better position to connect with them on a level that attracts them to your brand.
Build A Story Around Your Brand
It's been said many times before but it is definitely worth repeating here and that is... people buy from people people they know, like and trust.
It's the same when it comes to building brand awareness within the segment of the market that you choose to target with your internet business.
To do this right you have to build a story around your brand that connects with your audience to such a degree that they feel like they can identify with you because... you're just like them.
Behind every one of the most successful internet businesses online is a compelling story.
Whether it's rags to riches or riches to rags and back to riches again, there is a story that creates a level of trust between them and their market that makes them memorable and helps with building loyalty to their brand.
