You could be persuaded before you know it
I have to admit, while it seems as if almost all the gurus are using the same copy writer to prepare their promotional videos, they are almost without exception, very persuasive and you could easily be convinced to buy their products in a very short span of time. Phrases like "offer for the select few", "act now", or "offer expires in 24 hours" and even "this video will be taken down very soon" are quite common and the inexperienced internet searcher can part with his or her money in the twinkling of an eye. These are the kings of persuasion and while you may not support their often hard sell approach and some of their exaggerations, there is quite a lot we can learn from them as far as marketing is concerned. Whether you are going to try selling your own product or service on the internet or someone else's, it is the power of persuasion that makes people rush for their credit cards.
Once persuaded, watch out for your own credit card
As I said, once the bug of persuasion has bitten you, you would want to grab the "opportunity" immediately. Be careful of the art of up-selling. It is not uncommon, once you have made your initial purchase that you will be welcomed as "someone who has demonstrated commitment" and you might be offered something "free", like a website or two which will end up costing you anything between a further $100 and $200. Some of them would go as far as making you a third offer of "personal coaching and mentoring" and even "offer" you access to their direct email address. As an affiliate marketer myself, I try to stay away from promoting products such as the ones that I have just described. I prefer products where the prospect is given the opportunity to become educated and then make an informed decision about whether to buy the specific product on promotion or something else that is also available on the market place.
Fully persuaded now, why not learn from the masters?
After spending some time on the internet getting acquainted with the goings on in the world of internet marketing and affiliate marketing, it should become easier for you to discern which of the marketing approaches you would be willing to implement yourself should you be interested to sell your own product on the web. You would have a feel for that which you found to be aggressive, hard selling (you might either like this approach or on the other hand even find it offensive) but at least you would also be in a position to find a marketing strategy that appeals to your own set of preferences and implement that as your first project, whether as a seller of your own product, or as an affiliate promoting a product that you are comfortable with.
